Integrating an APRO 20 radar resolves this critical issue because:

  • Unlike standard sensors, the APRO 20 is configured to ignore receding traffic, automatically closing the bay as soon as the unloading vehicle has moved away from its detection range.
  • Thanks to adjustable sensitivity, the radar can ignore small, irrelevant movements, such as pedestrians or small service vehicles (cross-traffic masking).
  • Even in dark environments, subject to air drafts and dust, the APRO 20 maintains consistent detection precision without false alarms (clutter rejection).

Efficiency and Safety

Unlike photocells or infrared sensors (static presence detectors), microwave radar can detect in any condition because it is a dynamic system utilizing the Doppler effect. The APRO 20, using planar technology, emits a wave and analyzes its return as it reflects off an approaching or receding vehicle, with an adjustable coverage area of up to 4 x 10 meters. This allows the activation of a loading bay´s opening or closing sequence only if the vehicle is driving directly toward the entrance, ignoring those passing laterally (cross-traffic) or moving away.

Months after the installation of an APRO 20 radar sensor for the automatic open/close command of a logistics bay, it is possible to achieve up to a 30% reduction in "wasteful" opening times, resulting in evident advantages for thermal efficiency and climatic comfort, along with the elimination of maintenance interventions for false contacts or incorrect calibrations.
